Tarek Mounib

Season 1, Episode 8: #PledgeToListen

Tarek Mounib has an important mission. He is a Canadian Egyptian, born and raised in Halifax, then he studied engineering Carleton University in Ottawa.  He’s a successful entrepreneur, having started multiple businesses in the software industry. A few years ago, he saw the world, and particularly in the US, becoming increasingly intolerant. He felt he had to try to have an impact. He reduced his role in order to focus on creating projects that contribute to the wellbeing of humanity and bringing people of various backgrounds and cultures closer together.

One of these projects was the creation of Kindness Films, the producers of the documentary film, Free Trip to Egypt which he created in response to the anti-Arab, anti-Islam policies following the 2016 US election. He currently works on #PledgeToListen, created after the film. We also discussed Millions of Conversations in this episode which is now a partner with #PledgetoListen.

We spoke the day after the  US Election in 2020.
